Dogara Charges The Wealthy On Philanthropy
A former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives and Chairman Governing Board of the Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Hon. Babangida Nguroje, has promised to intensify efforts towards expanding his philanthropy to the benefit of the less privileged and the disadvantaged.
He made the pledge yesterday when he received the award of Doctorate Degree in Philanthropic Management by the board of Freedom University and Theological Seminary, Pottstown, United States of America (African Campus) in Abuja.
Nguroje said he dedicated the award to the less privileged in the society and that the award will spur him to do more for the sake of humanity.
“To whom much is given, much is expected.
Therefore, this award which is in recognition of my philanthropic activities has placed more responsibilities on my shoulders and I shall work assiduously to touch more lives in a very positive manner,” he said.
The NIPC board chairman stressed that such honours are meant to serve as encouragement and charged fellow awardees to take this gesture seriously.
According to him, “I feel extremely humbled that I am singled out of many for this award. I give thanks to the management of this reputable university and above all I thank God Almighty for this day.”
Also at the event was the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara who charged the university to strive for excellence with an assurance that he would be willing to support the institution in anyway possible. He also urged the wealthy to do more for the needy in the interest of national development.
